A letter From the Director

Dear Community Partner:

I have been a nurse for decades working in a variety of areas from labor and delivery to end-of-life care.  Midway through my nursing career I was introduced to hospice through a family member who received care at a church-affiliated hospice home.

When recovering from surgery years ago, I believe God planted a vision of a hospice house providing a warm, home setting,  with caregiving support to those at end of life.  I shared this vision with Pastor Larry and Sally Wall while participating in a leadership development program through my church.  It was at this point that I learned that they both had a similar vision for our community.  There is a definite need in our community for a home like this.

Through prayer, our vision as a church has been to build a Two-bedroom home on the church property that will provide hospice care and support for those at end of life. Services will include room, board, personal care, general supervision, medication administration, and other assistance, as necessary, to assure emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being.  It would be required for our residents to be hospice eligible, either prior to, or on admission to the home.  All residents would be enrolled in the hospice program provided by our local VNA.

This home will be open to anyone in the community, free of charge, though donations would be accepted. Love of God and community and a passion for excellence in end-of-life care is what motivates me to pursue this dream.

Sincerely,
Carol Comtois, RN
